This is the Shangrao Childrens Welfare Center in Shangrao, Jiangxi.
This orphanage is also called the "Ling" orphanage because all babies that live in this orphanage are given the "Ling" surname and were found outside Shangrao. Those that were found within Shangrao live at a different orphanage in Shangrao and are given the surname of "Rao".
These photos are an update to those I had posted earlier. The facility I showed earlier was actually the "Rao' orphanage - which was a new facility.
The Ling orphanage is an old hotel that was converted into the Ling orphanage in December 2003. Thier first
adoptions were in 2004 when 61 children were adopted internationally.
In 2005 160+ children were adopted. I dont have the number of adoptions from the LIng orphanage in 2006.
There are approximately 200 children in the orphanage, of which about 50 are special
needs. |
